I joke about how if you don't have a dog when you move here, we issue one to you. I *have* trained my dog not to bark at night. Looking for someone for dinner. She knows that if she is quiet, she get a treat when she comes in. Sometimes she just waits by the back door without making a noise, and I only find out she is ready to come in if I go check. Her bark to go out and in is usually a muffled WOOF , unless I don't hear her the first time. She is a good dog, for a Beagle. :-)
